For the record Solar Nails is nothing more than an acrylic. The name Solar is basically a brand name for acrylic. The same way you have brand name polishes like Essie, OPI and Creative Nails; the same concept applies to acrylic powders.
Some salons will up charge their clients for Solar Nails and unbeknownst to the client, they are unaware that they are paying for a regular traditional nail service. There is also another misconception with clients to what gel nails are. A true Gel Nail is completely liquid in form. If a Nail Tech applies a powdery substance to your nails as the foundation and then towards the end of the service applies a liquid gel top coat for shine as the gel; what you have received is an acrylic service with a gel top coating. The term gel nails can be misleading if you are clueless about what gel looks like or the application process.
It is the responsibility of your Pedicurist or Nail Tech to give the client what he or she expects to receive for the money they are spending in your establishment.
As a consumer you have every right to question your service provider for more clarification on the process and what products are being used. Always ask questions.
